Don't Get Caught Off Guard by a Failing Septic System
A Point-of-Sale Septic Inspection is an inspection of the septic system performed as part of a real estate transaction. The septic system is not included in a normal home inspection, and the inspector must be certified by the state of North Carolina, specifically the North Carolina Onsite Wastewater Contractor Inspector Certification Board (NCOWCICB). We are certified to perform these inspections and follow the NCOWICIB Standards of Practice.
Septic repairs can be incredibly expensive, not to mention unpleasant. While a Point-of-Sale Septic Inspection is always recommended, some lenders and local regulations may require that the septic system be inspected if one is present on the property.
The Point-of-Sale Septic Inspection looks at the septic tank, the pump tank, if present, and the dispersal field. See the NCOWICIB Standards of Practice for a complete list of all of the inspection points included in the inspection as well as specific exclusions.
